Faith and Medicine- One Christian Physician’s Observation
What does is look like to put Christ first in medicine? Dr. Kiovsky spoke with IUSM students on August 25, 2014 and gave a presentation on “One Christian Physician’s Observations.”
Dr. Kiovsky raised a lot of good questions and shared how important it has been for him to learn to take a good Spiritual History from his patients. Additionally, he challenged students to incorporate two questions into their patient interviews while in medical school: 1) What is one piece of advice you have for me as a future doctor? 2) Being in the hospital, being sick, and being uncertain about what your health will look like in the future can be extremely difficult things to deal with. In the midst of this, what is the glue that holds you together?
Dr. Kiovsky also shared about how vitally important it has been for him, despite the busyness of school and the medical profession, to regularly attend church and a small group. Regularly having prayer with other believers can make all the difference. We have attached his power point (including contact info) as well. Check it out!
