CMDA’s National Convention – for the Win!

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Ps. 121:1-2)

In late April, over 1,150 healthcare professionals and medical students gathered at CMDA’s annual NatCon, in Loveland, CO. What a time of encouragement and challenge, of Biblical input and call to Mission! God uses these conferences to wake us up and point us to His eternal purposes.

Highlights included:

  • Three plenary sessions and one break-out session with Dr. Carl Trueman. His insights into our current cultural moment were profound, challenging, and deeply helpful. Audio versions will likely be available to CMDA members in the near future. You may want to check out his newest book, The Desecration of Man.
  • John Stonestreet (president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview and daily voice of Breakpoint, the nationally syndicated commentary on the culture) spoke on the final night of the conference. Memorably, he mentioned that Christian healthcare professionals may need “a theology of getting fired” for conscience reasons, and reminded us of historian Arnold Toynbee’s words: “Most civilizations aren’t murdered. They commit suicide.(from internal, moral decay).
  • 60 partner organizations had booths in our Exhibition Hall, including Samaritan’s Purse, The Colson Center, MedSend, AAPLOG, PAACS, and others.

Finally, below are some of the 200+ medical and dental students who participated in NatCon. 35 of them presented their research VIE Poster … and one of our very own, Jayden H, M2 at IUSM’s Northwest Campus, won first place!
