Support Indianapolis CMDA!

Friends of Indianapolis CMDA, Our mission field is “RIGHT HERE!” We need your help mentoring and equipping the next generation of Christian healthcare professionals. We are asking for a gift to support the CMDA student ministry on the Indiana University campuses (medical, dental and physician assistant) and at Marian University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Yes, we support students on four local campuses! Funding is needed for campus outreach luncheons, student scholarships for conferences and medical/dental mission trips. Students in CMDA overwhelmingly report that their decision to pursue a career in the healthcare professions was motivated by their desire to share the love for Christ through medical care. How are they going to learn how to integrate their faith into the practice of healthcare? Students simply do not get training on how to do this during their training years. This is where CMDA is making an eternal impact on campuses nationwide, including right here in Central Indiana. Listen to this second-year medical student at Marian U-COM: “I have always wanted to pray with patients, but struggle with knowing how to do this in a healthcare setting. Working with a CMDA mentor and watching their interactions with patients on a GHO trip has made me more confident in doing this. I have a long way to go but now I have a renewed vision for meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of the patients I serve.” Student mission scholarships are making a huge difference in helping to change the trajectory of a student’s future. Students may have limited resources, but they may also need the nudge to do something they never thought about doing. A scholarship becomes an opportunity to see medicine as a ministry and a life-changing experience. Perhaps you could consider sponsoring a student to the upcoming El Salvador mission trip.

This was true of a third-year IU medical student: “I have always dreamed of serving on the mission field with medical care. Due to the expense of medical school, I felt that a trip was out of reach for me. The scholarship that I received from CMDA to go on this mission trip made a huge difference in influencing my decision to go. I am so thankful for this opportunity to serve the Lord!” Healthcare professionals participating with students on medical and dental mission trips are also experiencing a renewed joy and meaning in their calling as Christians in healthcare and as mentors. Notice the impact on this physician, who served in Haiti with CMDA: “I am humbled by the opportunity to serve in Haiti. There were so many people who were hungry for the Word of God and there were tremendous medical needs we were able to provide. Mentoring students was a particularly special opportunity as well.” Please consider supporting Indianapolis CMDA.
